The Vivo X70 Pro Plus is the flagship 5G smartphone from Vivo powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chip and tries to offer a premium Quad Camera in its partnership with Zeiss (German manufacturer of optical systems). Smartphone maker Vivo has launched its latest X70 Series flagship smartphones. Vivo X70 Pro and Vivo X70 Pro Plus were launched in India on September 30, 2021. The Vivo X70 series launched in India is the company’s third-generation of the flagship smartphone series. Also, X70 series is Vivo's second flagship of 2021, just six months after it launched the X60 series. Vivo’s main focus with their smartphones is to offer appealing camera features to its customers and the X70 series is no different. With the partnership of ZEISS (Zeiss is a German manufacturer of optical systems and optoelectronics), it is hoping to take this a step further in the latest iteration of the phone. Both the smartphones come with ZEISS T* coating certification which Vivo claims will ensure better transmission of light, improved image quality, and more accurate colour reproduction. The camera performance is further improved with Vivo’s custom-developed V1 chip with a built-in artificial intelligence (Ai). The smartphone has been launched in only a single variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. On the Processor side, The X70 Pro+ is the first smartphone in India to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC. Vivo says they are using a Fluorite AG Finish to achieve smooth finish on the back, which is resistant to fingerprints. X70 Pro Plus comes in only one colour option called Enigma Black and has In-Display Fingerprint Sensor.

The Vivo X70 Pro Plus also comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It is splash-proof, water and dust resistant under normal use. The phone has a 6.78-inch (17.22cm) E5 AMOLED LTPO Capacitive multi-touch Display with Resolution of 3200×1440, 20:9 aspect ratio and an immersive 3D curved screen. The screen has up to 120Hz refresh rate and up to 300Hz touch sampling rate. By default, the screen refresh rate is set to Smart Switch mode where the refresh rate changes automatically to suit different user scenarios and reduce energy consumption. Users can choose between Smart Switch, 60Hz or 120Hz modes in the system settings. In certain gaming scenarios, the sampling rate can go up to 300Hz. In different applications or game interfaces, the screen refresh rate and touch sampling rate may be slightly different.

The Vivo X70 Pro Plus is powered by a 5nm Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G SoC, which is an upgrade over the Snapdragon 888 processor on the earlier X60 Pro Plus. Snapdragon 888+ has a CPU Clock Speed of Up to 3GHz and has a Qualcomm Adreno 660 GPU. Vivo claims that this chip has an antutu score of 870,000+. This processor provides Peak Download Speed of Up to 7.5 Gbps (5G) and Peak Upload Speed of up to 3 Gbps.

The smartphone features Quad rear camera setup. The Dual main camera system features a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor with OIS ( Optical image stabilization) and an f/1.57 Aperture for "outstanding light sensitivity" and a 48MP Sony IMX598 ultrawide shooter with Gimbal Stabilisation with f/2.2 Aperture, "to stay stable at all times however you shoot". The other two cameras include an 8MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom, OIS and f/3.4 Aperture, and a 12MP portrait camera with OIS and f/1.6 Aperture. On the front, you get the same 32 MP selfie camera with an f/2.45 aperture. All of the cameras offer autofocus.

The vivo X70 Pro+ also comes with the company’s Professional Imaging Chip V1, a dedicated chip for cameras. This chip is said to help with frame interpolation, which according to Vivo, also improves smoothness when playing games, and helps the camera with brightness and denoising images accurately. All the camera lenses also have a Zeiss T* coating, which along with software, helps in reducing glare and ghosting in low-light photos.

Vivo X70 Pro Plus comes with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, with no room for further storage expansion.

The Vivo X70 Pro Plus packs a 4,500mAh battery that supports 55W Wired FlashCharge fast charging technology alongside 50W Wireless FlashCharge fast wireless charging support. It runs on Funtouch OS 12 which is based on Android 11.

Connectivity options include: Dual SIM Slot: 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi MIMO; Wi-Fi 6; Wi-Fi Display, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C, USB 3.1 with GPS, OTG and NFC supported. This phone supports several SA and NSA 5G bands, which were missing on the X60 Pro+. It also has an Infrared Remote Control sensor.
